Higher School of Law of the M. Narikbayev KAZGUU University acquired the status of the Kazakhstan Association of the AsianSIL. The decision was taken during the 19th National Chapter of the AsianSIL on October 12 of 2018 in Beijing.

AsianSIL was established in April of 2007 as an International non-government organization with following the goals:

А) promote research, education and application of international law through the organization of various events in Asia and other regions;

Б) promote and encourage Asian perspectives in international law; and

В) promote knowledge and respect for international law in Asia.

The Community also includes well-known experts in the field of International law, including the former judge and former chairman of the International Court of Justice Hisashi Owada, former Prime Minister of Jordan and former Vice-President of the International Court of Justice Awn Shawkat Al-Khasawneh, Vice-President of the International Court of Justice Hanqin Xue, dean of the School of Law of the National University of Singapore, Professor Simon Chesterman and many others.

Asian Journal of International Law, published by the Cambridge University Press and having a high impact factor is the official publication of the Community.

To achieve above mentioned goals, the Community may establish national associations, the status of which may be acquired by a recognized national school of law or a national association of lawyers of International law.

In total, 6 national associations of the Community were established in Bangladesh, Japan, Iran, South Korea, Nepal and now in Kazakhstan.

Giving the KAZGUU Higher School of Law the status of AsianSIL Kazakhstan Association means recognition as an authoritative Center of research and education in the field of International Law.

At the same time, the Higher School of Law is the only Centre of International Law in Kazakhstan officially recognized by the Community. Now it has a

possibility of conducting international conferences and other scientific and educational events under the auspices of the AsianSIL.
