Reed Smith

On November 6, 2019 within the framework of Legal Month 2019, the meeting was held with the Reed Smith international law firm with lectures by Lucy M. Winnington-Ingram (Associate of Reed Smith LLP London) on the topic “Challenges to Arbitrators under the ICSID Convention and Rules” and Suzie A. Savage (Counsel of Reed Smith LLP London) on the topic “Kazakh Law Expert Evidence in Investment Treaty Arbitration”.

Olympex Advisers

On November 8, 2019, Yerbol Karimov, a lawyer of the corporate affairs group of Olympex Advisers, held a master class for students on the topic: ‘Consulting as a career start’. A company representative spoke about the advantages of building a career in consulting and gave practical recommendations for successfully passing an interview when applying for a job in the company. As a result of the meeting, the company received a proposal for an internship with subsequent employment and the KLS CPCE sent 10 resumes of graduate students to the company.

AIFC

The second week of Legal Month 2019 was opened by our strategic partner – Astana International Financial Center. The master class ‘Internship at the AIFC’ by representatives of the AIFC Aida Kinzhigarinova (Recruitment Supervisor BCPD) and Shugyla Altynbek (Manager Partnership center BCPD) aroused keen interest of graduate students.

Haller Lomax

On November 12, 2019, within the framework of Legal Month 2019, a meeting was held with Haller Lomax lawyer Damir Muratbekov, where he spoke about the skills required to build a successful career in the company. Graduate students received advice on developing the skills required for a corporate lawyer.

KPMG

On November 13, 2019, within the framework of Legal Month 2019, a master class by Zarina Aitkulova (Recruitment Specialist KPMG Kazakhstan) aimed at developing skills in resume writing and interviewing at KPMG was held. The master class aroused the genuine interest of the graduate students, where they asked all their questions regarding the successful completion of the interview and the effective writing of the resume.

AIFC Academy of Law

The head of the AIFC Academy of Law David Gallo held an information session, where students received information about the upcoming AIFC Foundations Program for Business Professionals and Students 2020, Foundations in AIFC Practice for Lawyers 2020.

Ancor Central Asia

Also on November 18, 2019, Diyara Omarova, a graduate of M. Narikbayev KAZGUU University, now a consultant of Ancor Central Asia, held a master class ‘How to successfully pass an interview’. The master class aroused the genuine interest of the students, where they received useful advice and skills for successful employment from the young professional.

Development Bank of Kazakhstan

On November 19, 2019, within the framework of Legal month 2019, the master class was held on the topic ‘Management of legal risks in lending activities’ from the employees of the Development Bank of Kazakhstan Askar Mirtaev (Managing director – Board member), Dauren Madiyev (Director of Department of Legal Support) and Zhalel Imashev (Head of the department of legal expertise).

Legal Bureau ‘ADITUM’

On November 20, 2019, the guest lecture by the lawyer of ADITUM Legal bureau Alibek Salykbayev on the topic ‘Construction disputes, rules for supporting construction projects’ was held, where students received additional information about the specifics of legal support for construction projects.

Samruk-Kazyna Corporate University

On November 21, 2019, employees of the Samruk-Kazyna Corporate University presented the ‘Zhas-Orken’ program and talked about the procedure for submitting and passing internships within the program.

Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan

On November 22, civil servants of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan held the master class for graduate students and talked about the specifics of passing the competition for public service in the justice authorities.

KLS Legal month 2020 was divided into events for graduate students and first-year students and was held from 9 to 27 November 2020 in a distance format.

Program of events for graduate students
All students, who wanted to find out about the availability of vacancies, the rules for selection for internships and job opportunities in organizations, were invited to the cycle of meetings with employers within the framework of Legal month 2020 for graduate students.
The event was attended by our partners from the corporate sector (KPMG, EY, Delloite, Haller Lomax, Grata International, Aditum, Ancor, etc.) and state bodies, where they presented the HR policy of their companies, talked about internship opportunities, selected talented students for employment, conducted guest lectures on topical issues of law, held master classes and trainings aimed at developing students’ skills necessary for their future work.

Program of events for first-year students
The cycle of meetings with employers is necessary for all 1st year students within the discipline of ‘Legal profession’ to familiarize students with the activities of organizations from the corporate sector to law enforcement agencies, which will help to determine further specialization and contribute to the formation of skills and competencies necessary for further employment.
